The Fattoria Antico Castello di Poppiano is located in the heart of the Florentine Chianti between Siena and Florence. From the battlements of its Castle, which dominates the Elsa valley, you can admire the picturesque medieval village of San Gimignano, visited every year by millions of tourists from all over the world. The property extends for over 80 hectares of olive groves and vineyards. Of the latter, about 20 hectares boast the DOCG and 10 hectares of the IGT brand. The surrounding vineyards were planted in 1956 at the request of Alberto Dimitri Kunz, Prince of Habsburg Lorraine who managed to create a prestigious brand especially for the famous "Tegolato" a wine unique in the world for the particular processing procedure with which it is made. For over twenty years our family with industrious enthusiasm has taken steps to restore the plants and consolidate the production structures. So now the vineyards, favored by the particular microclimate and the warm currents that flow here in spring, are back, under new careful attention, to guarantee excellent harvests. Thus modern winemaking techniques, always respecting the ancient Tuscan tradition, have allowed the recovery of precious and unique wines and the creation of other equally prestigious and authoritative labels.
